JAMES GEORGE SR.

James Abraham George Sr., 76, a resident of Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, due to complications of COVID 19.

He was born August 3, 1944, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Abraham Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Wheby) George. Jim was a long time employee of Spic and Span Cleaners in Wheeling and was also a service manager at Subaru, where he won awards for his excellent service. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church.

Jim was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family, friends, children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews with all his heart. Jim never had the easiest life but he never complained or felt sorry for himself. He had polio at the age of 8 and overcame his difficulties. He was always kind and never spoke badly about anyone.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Eddie, Saline, Herbert and Robert George, all of Wheeling; and sisters, Margaret George Kosikowski of Steubenville, OH, Mildred George Hoskinson formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, but resided in Virginia Beach, VA, and Gloria Jean George Sterling of St. Clairsville, OH.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley (Gray) George of Wheeling; daughter, Tara Jo George Musilli (Donnie) of Wheeling; son, James A. George Jr. (Jessica Bock) of St. Clairsville; grandchildren, Ashley Jane Musilli (Cade Scott) and Austin Joseph Musilli both of Wheeling, Liam Donovan George and Ella Adriana George both of St. Clairsville; a great-granddaughter, Harper, on the way; sister, Nettie George Seidler of Wheeling; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., where funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, at 11 a.m., with Monsignor Bakhos Chidiac officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to an animal shelter of your choice.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the family requests that the proper guidelines are followed and masks are worn.
