JACQUELINE BURKE

Jacqueline C. Burke, 87, resident of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Continuous Care Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Wheeling on October 18, 1933, daughter of the late William C. and Eleanor McLaughlin Crock.

Jackie was a very active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and School where she served as past president of the PTG, Ladies Guild, Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She also served on the Hospitality Committee and was a sponsor with RCIA.

She was the former secretary/treasurer with Burke-Bodey Funeral Home and was a former employee with the Diocese of Wheeling- Charleston. She was also employed with the City of Wheeling Engineers office, Ohio County Circuit Clerks office and the Follett Higher Education Group at Wheeling Jesuit University Bookstore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Burke, Sr; father and mother-in- law, Thomas and Doris Burke; brother, William McLaughlin Crock and son-in-law, Ray J. Cook.

Jackie is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Gainer (Richard), William T. “Bill” Burke, Jr. (Mitzi), Judith Knuth (Mark), Michele Cook and Suzanne Stahl (Rick); grandchildren, Greta Harmon (Paul), Shaun Gainer (Natalie), Andrea and Julie Burke, Amy Compston (Zach), Eric Knuth (Rebecca), Ray Cook, Kayla Cook (fiance, Derek Traini), Zack Stahl (fiancee, Claire Gardill) and Mary Stahl; great- grandchildren, Walker Bowman, Riley and Niamh Harmon, Micah, Grayson and Lilah Gainer; sister- in-law, Jane Crock; one nephew, three nieces, four great-nephews and one great-niece.

The Burke family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Continuous Care Center for their kindness, compassion and care for their mom.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 2-7 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722).

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Father Paul M., C.S.T. as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
