JAMES PARSONS

James “Jim” Arnold Parsons, Sr., 68, of Triadelphia, WV, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

He was born on August 22, 1952, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Dale A. and Mary L. Dobrzynski Parsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Parsons; an infant brother; and father-in- law, George N. Junkins.

Jim was a skilled masonry contractor. He also worked as a coal miner for Valley Camp and at the B & O Railroad. He coached baseball, softball and flag football where he made an impact on many of the youth in the valley.

Jim was a proud man. Proud of his work. Proud of his land. Proud of the teams he coached. But he was most proud of his family. His eyes & heart filled with pride every time he spoke of them. Providing them with beautiful land to learn and play on was his priority. Nothing put a bigger smile on his face than watching one of their games and then bringing them all back to his farm to enjoy food and play out in the front yard.

Only few knew him as “Dad” or “Pap” but he was like a father to so many more. He was the man everyone turned to for help and guidance. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his childhood sweetheart & loving wife of 53 years, Carol Lee Junkins Parsons; a son, James “Jimmy” Arnold (Michelle) Parsons, Jr.; 3 daughters, Aimee L. (David) Menendez, Kilaine L. Parsons & Kaleigh J. Parsons; 8 grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Lauren & Emilee Menendez and Branden, Miranda, Breanna & James, III Parsons; 4 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Carol Thomas, Danny Parsons, Ronnie (Diane) Parsons, Jane Parsons, Paul (Mary Susan) Parsons, Andy Parsons, Raymond (Lynette) Parsons & Dawn (Jonathan) Greer; mother-in-law, Betty Lee Junkins; many sister/ brother-in-laws; and several nieces & nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2-6 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311). Jim will be returning to his earthly home where he will be laid to rest in Dement Cemetery; a tranquil piece of land overlooking his beautiful homestead where a private family burial service will be held.
