Donald W. Major, 69, of Bellaire, Ohio died May 8, 2021 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born January 6, 1952 in Bellaire, a son of the late Alfred Willis Major and Edna LuGail Wallace Major.

Don was a 1970 graduate of the Bellaire High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and later graduated from the OVGH School of Nursing. He was a retired Registered Nurse from the former Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling with 41 dedicated years of service. Serving with the Belmont County Veteran’s Association honoring veterans, gardening and collecting Air Force memorabilia were things he enjoyed. Don will always be remembered as a caring person and compassionate nurse.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dwight Edward Major.

Don is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Laura L. Penn Major; a sister, Mary Lou Sproat of Crown Point, Indiana; two brothers, Wallace W. (Deanna) Major of Bellaire and David A. (Diana) Major of St. Clairsville; a sister-in-law, Patricia K. Major of Paintsville, Kentucky; best friend, Bob Farmer of Belmont; and his two cats, Maxx and Luka.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings are required during the visitation held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where visitation will again be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Deborah Messham officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Bellaire.
