CYNTHIA BECKER

Cynthia Louise Sloane Becker, 63, born July 17, 1959 of Wheeling, WV, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2022 in St. Petersburg, FL. She was the daughter of Geraldine Sloane and the late Edward Sloane, Sr. She was a graduate of Mt. DeChantal Academy and West Liberty College, graduating with a BS. Cindy was always active. As her mother remembers, Cindy came out kicking and never slowed down; she carried this positive spirit with her throughout her life. A born cheerleader, Cindy cheered in grade school and for the Linsly School. Cindy began her career in the field of dental hygiene and later pursued a career in pharmaceutical sales where she was a highly respected and accomplished Senior Executive Academic Sales Professional at Janssenbiotech. She received Janssenbiotech’s President’s Club award multiple times among many other professional accolades.

An active member of C3 Church in Wheeling, WV, she was a regular participant in the church’s Bible study group. Hospitality was important to Cindy and she expressed her love for others through food. Friends and family often surrounded the breakfast bar in her home, which was always filled with snacks. She loved growing herbs, cooking special meals, and baking desserts for family and friends. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she took up canning as a hobby, and her jams and salsas were favorite treats which she enjoyed sharing as gifts for friends and family. She enjoyed warm winter fires snuggling up with her best companions, her dogs, Gracie and Beau.

Cindy’s friends were central in her life. When she made a friend, it was forever. Laury, her college roommate, and her colleague, Karen, were lifelong friends. She enjoyed biking with Jane, Judy, Kathy, and Michelle. Cindy’s zest for life was also expressed through a love of travel to new places with the people she loved. Some of her favorite memories were times spent biking with friends in Tahoe and traveling to Italy with her children.

In retirement, Cindy relocated to Florida to be closer to her daughter, Kelli, and son, Lance. Never one to slow down, during her time in Florida she enjoyed golfing, biking, and beach yoga.

Cindy is survived by her beloved mother, Geri, of Wheeling, WV; her brother Ed, Jr. (Kit) of Madison, WI; her son Lance (Kelly) of Atlanta, GA; her daughter Kelli (Josh) of St. Petersburg, FL; her nephew Eddie, III of Bethesda, MD; and her niece Bethany (Nathan) of Portland, OR.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made on Cindy’s behalf to the American Heart Association, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Humane Society.

Guests will be received on Saturday, August 13, at the C3 Church in Wheeling at 1PM with a memorial service to begin at 1:30PM. A light reception will follow at the church.
