JOANN KNOPE

She was born on October 11, 1936, daughter of the late Thomas and Eva (Kalitynska) Lichwa of Mozart.

She was a 1958 graduate of OVGH School of Nursing. Joann was a retired Registered Nurse for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation after 33 years of service. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Knope on July 13, 2022 and daughter-in-law, Staci Knope in 2021, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law; Cynthia G. and Jon A. Whitelatch; son, Andrew J. Knope; 5 grandchildren, Steven Whitelatch, Megan, Jennifer, Catherine and JoAnna Knope; close niece, Charlotte (Luther) Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peterson for their care, kindness and friendship over the last 2 years.

Friends will be received at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father John Ledford as celebrant.

Interment to follow at McMechen Cemetery, McMechen, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Avenue, Glen Dale, WV 26038.
