LAWRENCE PALMER
Lawrence William “Bill” Palmer, 85, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Bill was born January 26, 1940 in Wheeling, West Virginia a son of the late Lawrence and Betty (Spielvogel) Palmer.
He proudly served his country as an Army veteran. After his service, he dedicated many years working as a delivery driver for Wonder Hostess Bakery, where he was known for his reliability and friendly demeanor.
The cornerstone of Bill’s life was his deep devotion to church and family, which he held dear above all else. He was a man of simple pleasures who found joy in the everyday activities that filled his days.
He cherished visiting nursing homes, where he brought comfort and companionship to those in need. He also enjoyed the game of golf, spending peaceful hours on the greens. His love for the outdoors extended to grass cutting, a task he took pride in, and riding horses, which brought him great joy.
Bowling was another favorite pastime, where he often shared laughter and camaraderie with friends. Bill had a compassionate heart, particularly for animals, and was known for rescuing dogs, offering them a loving home.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, and his beloved fur babies, TJ, Roxie, Kaylee, and Lana.
He is survived by his loving wife whom he married on May 29, 1959, Joyce Palmer of Shadyside, Ohio; children, Bill Palmer of Wilmington, Delaware, Nancy (John) Henthorn of Shadyside, Ohio, Doug (Jodi) Palmer of Shadyside, Ohio, Jean (Robert) Tiedemann of Boca Raton, Florida, Janet (Mike) Christman of St. Clairsville, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher Palmer, Curtis Henthorn, Joshua Palmer, Ashley Pritchett, Sara, Brady, Jacob, Grace Tiedemann, Allyson Grove, Ryan Christman; great grandchildren, Christopher Palmer, Andrew Palmer, Cooper Pritchett, Anderson Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on March 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Friends Church, St. Clairsville. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Home 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio 43906.
