– To hospitals with “Safety Town” programs that teach children 4-5 years of age many safety lessons. Wheeling Hospital and Reynolds Memorial are among local sponsors of “Safety Town.” For more information, call the hospitals.

– To the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for obtaining $81,607 in federal funds that will go to organizations that provide emergency food and shelter. Ohio, Marshall and Belmont counties are to receive shares of the money.

– To participants in the annual Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff, held earlier this month at the Heritage Port. The event raised about $11,000 for the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.
