Help Young Victims
Our nation’s first lady, Melania Trump, has taken a very specific interest in the drug abuse epidemic, for which West Virginia is ground zero. Mrs. Trump’s concern centers on children whose lives are affected, sometimes disastrously, by substance abuse.
This week, she came back to Huntington, where she previously visited Lily’s Place, a center for treatment of babies with neonatal abstinence syndrome. With high-ranking federal officials in tow, Mrs. Trump learned about other efforts against drug abuse.
Good. Historically, first ladies have had substantial impact on public policy. Let us hope Mrs. Trump can convince others in Washington to share her worry about the futures of children caught in the substance abuse crisis.
