Prosecute Coach If He Broke Law

It has been reported that the Toronto Junior High School coach who resigned from his position after allegedly sending an inappropriate text message to some young athletes did so accidentally.

Still, one source said the message “resembled pornography.” That means the coach — and anyone else involved — may have committed a crime. The situation is being investigated by law enforcement authorities.

Toronto City Schools officials did the right thing by informing police of allegations against the coach.

We all make mistakes. Most of them are harmless.

But we recognize that there are certain errors that cannot be tolerated. Texting what the school district referred to as “inappropriate material” to students is on that list.

So, if it is determined the coach broke the law, even if inadvertently, he and any others involved simply must be prosecuted and punished.
