Your Vote Matters
On Tuesday, voters in the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School district approved renewal of an important tax levy to support the facility and its programs. But the vote was close — 78 in favor and 72 against.
A shift of just four votes would have meant the levy went down to defeat. Had just seven supporters stayed home instead of voting Tuesday, it would have been rejected.
In many ways, local elections and referendums are more important than national balloting. Donald Trump has absolutely nothing to do with the JVS. Yet too many voters do not weigh in on local matters.
Your vote really does matter — and it can make a difference in the wrong way if you do not use it.
