Reassuring Young Victims of Crime
Certain kinds of emotional trauma, such as involvement in crimes, can stick with children for many years. Law enforcement agencies in our area try hard to make such situations as easy as possible on youngsters.
Harrison County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Bruzzese is ready to help. His golden retriever, “Luna,” will be certified this spring as a service dog that can be used to comfort children involved in criminal court proceedings. “Most of the stuff I see her doing is going to be child victim cases,” Bruzzese noted.
Good. If even one child’s emotional upheaval can be minimized, Bruzzese and “Luna” will have done good work.
Let us hope other law enforcement agencies throughout our area can provide similar canine helpers or, perhaps borrow “Luna” from Harrison County.
