Benwood Pool Is Success Story
How nice it is to be able to report some really good news, for a change!
It comes from Benwood, where officials and residents overcame far more than COVID-19 to get the municipal swimming pool open this year.
In August 2018, city officials were forced to close the old pool, built in 1973. The years had taken their toll.
But Benwood, with $400,000 in help from a federal grant, came up with nearly $1.7 million for a new pool, rehabilitated pool building and other improvements.
The new pool opened last weekend. A grand opening ceremony is set for Saturday.
Good for Benwood. Especially now, places to have some carefree fun are important. City officials — and taxpayers — are to be commended for the pool project.
