Report Situations In School Districts
It is true, as state officials have pointed out, that county officials in West Virginia seem to be doing a good job of keeping the public posted on how COVID-19 is affecting public schools. Good for them.
But except for press reports of particularly severe outbreaks, Mountain State residents know little about schools outside their immediate areas. That is information many want, if for no other reason than to gauge how well local schools are doing in dealing with COVID-19.
It has been suggested the state Department of Health and Human Resources website (dhhr.wv.gov/COVID-19/) should include more information on public schools. We agree.
Surely there is a way state officials could obtain reasonably current information on COVID-19 in schools. Doing so and reporting it on the DHHR website would be a valuable service to the public.
