Volunteering At Soup Kitchen

Perhaps the most important lifeline available to Wheeling residents — both those here permanently and others just passing through — is the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling. Executive Director Becky Shilling-Rodocker notes the organization’s mission is simple: “feeding the hungry.”

But the number of people volunteering to help out at the Soup Kitchen has declined because of COVID-19. The need for help remains the same as before the epidemic — greater, in some ways. About 200 meals are prepared each day.

If you are interested in volunteering to help out at the Soup Kitchen, understand the organization takes steps to ensure both those being served and those helping in the task stay safe.

We encourage you to volunteer. For information, call the Soup Kitchen at 304-233-2992.
