Learning About Election Process
Election officials in Belmont, Monroe and Harrison counties have said they expect to have plenty of poll workers for the Nov. 3 election. But, they add, they can always use more people to go on standby lists.
Such backups are more important than in normal years, for obvious reasons.
We encourage East Ohio residents — especially young adults — to consider serving as election workers. It has been pointed out that some older veterans in election-day jobs are leery of serving this year, because of COVID-19.
That gives younger people, including college students, a wonderful opportunity for hands-on education about the political process. Training is provided. The pay is $150 (more for some jobs).
