Perhaps We Can Still Love a Parade
Throughout our area, Christmas parades have been dropping like winter snowflakes. Cancellations have been responsible attempts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Cadiz has not called off its annual parade, however. It will go ahead, just not as usual.
Instead of holding a normal parade, with spectators crowding sidewalks to watch and listen to passing units, Cadiz has a “reverse parade” scheduled for Dec. 5. Parade units will be stationary at various points between the Harrison County Fairgrounds and Main Street in Cadiz. There will be floats, at least one high school band — and, of course, Santa Claus.
People wishing to view the “parade” will stay in their vehicles and drive the route.
What a great idea! Good for those in Cadiz who came up with it. Perhaps other communities in our area can hold similar events, in place of Christmas parades that have been canceled.
