How All of Us Can Help Seniors Get Vaccinated
For months, West Virginia led the nation in getting residents 65 and older vaccinated. Lately, though, the state has struggled — a situation we’ve been discussing here for the past six weeks — to get any shots in arms, let alone those most vulnerable among us.
In the past two weeks, both Ohio and Pennsylvania have quickly been moving up on West Virginia in getting the 65 and older age group fully vaccinated. In Ohio, 70% of the state’s older residents are now fully vaccinated; in Pennsylvania, that percentage is just below 70.
West Virginia, as of Tuesday, has seen 71.5% of its older residents fully vaccinated, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
That’s good, but we need to do better — and all of us can help. Do you know a neighbor that can’t get out, or a loved one that hasn’t had access to the vaccine? See what you can do to help. Every person vaccinated in this group can lead to a saved life.
