Summer School Programs A Big Benefit for Students
From an educational standpoint, the past year has been a challenge for school-aged students. Many families may find their youngsters have fallen behind as they head into the 2021-22 school year.
That’s why programs such as what’s being offered this summer in Ohio County Schools will be more important than ever in getting students back on track. Starting June 22, the county will be offering, to all elementary and middle school students, a four-week summer school program focused on reading, match and STEAM activities. This will be an opportunity for those who may have struggled with online learning to get up to speed for the coming year.
There also are a number of one-week camps for elementary, middle and high school students. Topics will include robotics and, at the high school level, an option for career and technical education students.
Ohio County Schools and others offering expanded summer programs deserve thanks for putting children first. Parents should take advantage.
