Gee: WVU Has a ‘Purpose’

We all work better when we have a purpose. West Virginia University President E. Gordon Gee believes the same will be true for his institution, as this past week he announced it would create the nation’s first “Purpose Institute.”

“We must pursue education, health care and prosperity with a renewed and focused determination to transform West Virginia University into a purpose-driven leader in higher education,” Gee said. “The center will help prospective students and employees, as well as current students, faculty, staff and alumni discover — or rediscover — their purpose and place in the world. …”

That’s an excellent idea, and one worth watching as it moves forward. Gee continues to chart the right path forward for WVU.
