Move Reuther Statue
I write again to comment on the location of the Walter Reuther statue at Heritage Port. I think it was an insult to the man and his legacy to hide him back there behind those bushes with his back to the city he put on the map. Walter Reuther was the ablest and most effective labor leader in American history. He helped get fair wages and benefits for millions of working men and women, not just in the auto industry, and created the middle class in America.
There is space on Water Street near the Pollock memorial, which would be appropriate. I urge interested citizens to contact their city council members and state legislators in this worthy effort. Walter Reuther deserves no less.
