Call Your Legislators

Editor, News-Register:

God says in Proverbs 14:34 that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. How do we get righteousness, since God says that there is none righteous, no, not one. He says we have all sinned and the wages of sin is eternal death in hell. Jesus said, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

We can’t be righteous and perfect if we think we already are. God says in 1 John 1:8 that, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” The angel of the Lord told Joseph that Mary would have a son and Joseph “shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins.” The name Jesus means Savior. Until you realize you are in trouble, you won’t call for a savior. It wasn’t until John Newton, the slave ship captain, realized his great sin that he wrote, “Amazing grace that saved a wretch like me.” And Jesus told the self-righteous Pharisee who looked down upon the repentant prostitute who was washing Jesus’ feet with her tears and hair that, “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much; but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”

Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and the life and no one can come to the Father but by him. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord of our life and believe that he died to save us from our sins and God raised him from the dead, we are saved. He goes on to say through the Apostle Peter that by believing that, he freely, by his grace gives us our righteousness.

Therefore, we discriminate against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders and really, any sinners, when we make ungodly laws that legitimize and affirm our sin and drive us further toward the eternal hell. God calls these sins an abomination and that those who practice them will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Even 2,000 years ago, according to 1 Corinthians 6:11, many sinners, incuding homosexuals, had repented and were saved.

We won’t call out to God if we believe Satan’s lies that we were born LGBT. Search the internet for Dennis Jernigan, a Christian singer’s video titled, “Sing Over Me,” how he was delivered from homosexuality and now has a wife and nine biological children. Search the January 2020 Eagle Forum Report of how Dr. Erin Brewer was set from from her being a transgender and that she believes in Christian conversion therapy, which some states have banned and West Virginia has proposed such laws.

Call your legislators and tell them to vote against these abominable laws that drive LGBTs further from God and from repentance.
