Has Nation Changed?
Some of us gave years of our lives serving in the U.S. military. Some of us engaged in combat on the land, on the sea, in the air. Some died on the land, on the sea, in the air.
All of this sacrifice was for the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Are we still that nation? Are we becoming the land of the controlled and the home of the fearful? Speaking for myself, it hurts to live with what is happening to my country. “The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” — Job 1:21. But that doesn’t have to happen now, because the LORD says in Jeremiah that, “If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and that nation … turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it.” — 1:7-8.
I pray that we live out the Jeremiah text. If not, we will be left to repeat the Job text.
