Practice Forgiveness

Editor, News-Register:

Where is forgiveness? Senator Robert Byrd admitted his mistake, apologized for it, then turned 360 degrees to work diligently and effectively for civil rights. When he came to the Senate in 1959, only 19 of the 534 Congressional offices were integrated. His office was one of them.

I suggest that the Bethany students, especially those from out of state, might not have considered the senator’s entire career, and all his good works for West Virginians and others after he renounced the Klan.

In judging the senator, let’s hope that fairness and forgiveness prevail.
