Moundsville City Manager Rick Healy gave an update on the New Municipal Building construction at the recent City Council Meeting. He said that progress is still moving forward, however it is slower than originally estimated and the original move-in date of late August or early September will have to be pushed back. Healy will attend a meeting this week to get an updated timeline. Additionally, Grae-Con Construction, based in Steubenville, has been hired as a consultant to assist with sub-contractors and to help with workflow of the project. Over the next three weeks, the following projects are scheduled; roof panels over the elevator shaft, tower, and front stairwell; installing front stairwell stringers and concrete pans, electrical rough-in of the lobby area, and AEP pole set for permanent power. Ongoing plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and fire suppression system work also continues.

Three landlords responded to the summons, pleaded guilty, paid a fine, and registered their properties. Nine additional landlords issued a summons and will now be sent notices for failure to appear. Demolition was recently completed on four properties on the RAISE Grant list. These structures were located on Baker Avenue, Second Street and Seventh Street. Four additional structures are set to be demolished soon. These are located at 126 Sycamore, 328 Sycamore, 80 Compton and 329 Rear Thorn. Two additional properties located at 37 Walnut Avenue and 106 Tomlinson Avenue will be paid by City funds and are currently in the bid process.
