Boomers Love Beatles

August 1, 2014 - Heather Ziegler
The Wheeling area's baby boomer generation sang its heart out last night at Oglebay Park's Anne Kuchinka Amphitheater where hundreds gathered to hear

the group Hard Day's Night. These four guys are a Beatles tribute band whose "Magical Mystery Tour" capped a "Hard Day's Night" for many who enjoyed

a chance to "Twist and Shout." And shout they did. The amphitheater setting proved the perfect place for the Date Night Crowd as couples swayed and

some stood and danced to the music of their youth. It wasn't even the caliber of the singing or the costumes and long hair that brought the crowd to its

collective feet. It was the simplicity of sitting there and traveling back from carefree childhood days through adulthood which included decades of Beatles

While I love the Beatles early music, I was not so happy with the "Yellow Submarine" days. However, it was that song that had the crowd singing loudly

at the request of the band. The band did not have to ask the crowd to sing along during the rest of their sets as everyone in the crowd was swaying and

singing. The loudest applause came after the singing of "Let It Be." I guess that's what we all wished for the world at that moment. That is the sign of a

crowd-pleasing event. Thanks again to Oglebay for giving us a "Ticket to Ride" to a lovely evening!
