Maintain Memorial To W.Va. Veterans

Last year, someone noticed lights meant to illuminate the West Virginia Veterans Memorial at the State Capitol Complex in Charleston were not working....

... And yet state officials were not aware the lighting system was malfunctioning, there is some confusion over who is supposed to maintain the lights, and they are looking for a contractor to make repairs. The Director of Administration should be embarrassed. And I have to wonder, since the description of this department says they PROVIDE maintenance, is not a single one of these employees qualified and/or allowed to just go out and fix the lights?

The WV Department of Administration website says, the General Services Division is comprised of several units, which functions include providing operations and maintenance, custodial services and grounds maintenance."

There are seven "units" listed under General Services: Administration, Architecture and Engineering, Business, Custodial, Environmental Safety and Health, Grounds, and Operations and Maintenance. Positions within this division include a Director of Administration, an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Administration, an Acting Architecture & Engineering Manager, an Architect, a Mechanical Engineer, an Environmental Coordinator, two Project Managers, a Custodial Manager, a Custodial Day Supervisor, a Custodial Evening Supervisor, a Grounds Manager, a Grounds Supervisor, an Operations and Maintenance Manager, and SIX Operations and Maintenance Supervisors.
