When it comes to Coal, we are hampered by even Coal supporters' lack of knowledge about the real value of Coal and Coal-use byproducts. We should, and could, take the offensive. Low-cost, abundant electric power is a given. But, in China, the company, Shenhua, the largest Coal mining company in the world, says they are making "huge profits" converting Coal into gasoline and diesel fuel, something they've been doing in South Africa for more than half a century. Coal ash can be used to make superior cement and concrete. The Ronald Reagan Office Building, home of the EPA, is made of concrete filled with Coal Ash. China is extracting aluminum ore from Coal Ash. CO2, right now, is being converted into Methanol, which is being blended into gasoline sold at service stations in several European nations.
