Wow, oh Wow! Trying to pin the 'Shutdown' on Obama takes the cohones of a horse! This is a scream equal to 'Romney in a Landslide' in providing humor to us all.

In a word....the Repugs have really crapped in their mess kit on this idiotic Señor Cruz championed farce!

I love how you keep seeing the phrase "Obama won the election" as if that's some magical chant.

So? George Bush won too. I don't recall seeing any of this gang bowing down to him as the revered leader.

Mike, Unfortunately there is evidence that the failure is exactly what obie really wants. By seriously damaging the private insurance industry, the plan appears to be announce they had tried the exchange idea, it failed, and the only alternative is a straight Health Canada system.

BTW, coff, did you have the same attitude when old George was president?

I doubt it very much.

The entire reason the House was given the exclusive power to write all appropriations and tax laws in the Constitution was just for occasions like this. They had seen cases all over Europe where government leaders had spent their countries into bankruptcy, and they wanted the president to have NO power to tax the people, and to be able to withhold money from dumb ideas.

"Hey guys, you lost! Obama is the president and ACA is the law. Grow up!"

Yes, he's president, not emperor. And the GOP won the House. So now the House is doing just what they are supposed to do under the Constitution.

Really ticks you off, doesn't it?

Eventually this monstrosity will collapse of its own weight (and debt) then it will be called a meltdown.

Wheezerdawg, the Supreme Court ruled ACA is just a TAX. Taxes get repealed, raised, and lowered all of the time.

Obama negotiates with the Terrorist state of Iran which is building nuclear bombs to use against American Interests.

Obama negotiates with the Terrorist State of Syria which used Banned Chemical Weapons on it own people.

But Obama has a "NO NEGOTIATION policy with Republicans a 1/2 mile from the White Cribe???????

WTF indeed!!!!

It must be so difficult for this paper's editor to be "right wing" when his family is so tied to unions. Quite the conundrum to make 50k a year.

It may be the law, but it won't go far without any funding. Maybe if you whine a little harder the adults will give you a little of your allowance. Come on, let's hear it. Gimme gimme gimme! Now let's see that pouty face. Aw****.. LOL

Pathguy “I don't need to sign up for the affordable care act”

So Pathguy, you didn’t get to wait all day yesterday “hoping” for that “please wait” screen to “change.” Nor did you get to wait all day today. And probably tomorrow. Don’t worry, though. When you start paying for the health insurance of all those new beneficiaries, with no increase in the number of health care providers, you’ll get your turn to enjoy the fun Obamacare waiting game.

The makers have been holding the takers at bay since civilizations began. The conflict between conservatives and liberal “progressives” is no different. For a while the makers advance the civilization and everyone benefits. Sometimes, eventually, the takers win and the civilization collapses and ends, only to be replaced by a new civilization – sometimes better, sometimes worse. Either way, takers, you will lose. Either learn to be self sufficient and enjoy the prosperity, or continue being thieves and suffer in chaos. The makers will be fine either way.

I know the Amazon billionaire bought The Washington Post but I must have missed the story about the purchase of the N-R by the Koch Brothers. This editorial is straight out of their playbook.

1. With or without the debt ceiling legislation the new health care law was going into effect.

2. The health care concerns of some Republicans and its extreme right wing (Tea Party) can be dealt with through legislation specific to the issue.

3. The health care law is now in operation and will highly unlikely be pulled back by on-going debt ceiling negotiations.

4. Several high ranking Republican members of Congress have distanced themselves from the effort to hobble the government until the health care law is effectively repealed or put on hold. They know this is a losing cause and will ultimately hurt their party more than it will Obama.

5. The president realizes that if he caves on the Republican demands re: health care it will undercut his credibility and likely mean the virtual gutting of the health care law.

6. We are now moving beyond minor inconveniences and heading for major long-term impacts to the national economy if this standoff continues much longer.

Google Jimmy Kimmel's Obamacare Prank and learn why voters support the ACA, and why some voters don't like Obamacare. The ACA was built by Obama, but it was brought to you by informed American voters like Pathguy, GETACLUE, caltransplant, Gooseman, and the people in this video. mashable.c o m/2013/10/01/obamacare-jimmy-kimmel/
