SMOOT, Ruth Kikta 85, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Masontown, PA, died Friday, February 8, 2013 in Peterson Hospital.

She was born May 31, 1927 in Masontown, a daughter of the late John J. and Helen Bandish Kikta.

She was a former employee of the Fayette County School-Intermediate Unit, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, All Saints Catholic Church, Masontown, Catholic Daughters of America, Business and Professional Woman, a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital and Ohio County Schools.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clinton Smoot, one brother, Robert Kikta, two sisters, Eleanor Leonelli and Dee Lowe, her son-in-law, Edward "Bip" Bippus III.

Surviving are her daughter, Candace Bippus, two grandchildren, Matthew E. Bippus and Elizabeth H. Bippus, two great-grandchildren, Leo and Calli.

Friends received 6-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. William Matheney, Jr. as celebrant.

Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
