Probe Allegation On Phone Records

June 10, 2013
The Intelligencer , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

A British newspaper has reported the U.S. government has collected telephone records of millions of Verizon customers, through a secret intelligence gathering operation.

Verizon refuses to comment - which is understandable, since it can be penalized for discussing such demands from the government.

The revelation is a frightening demonstration of Big Brotherism by President Barack Obama's administration.

The Constitution protects Americans' privacy except when law enforcement agencies can provide evidence of specific wrongdoing by specific people. Millions of customers' phone records do not qualify.

Members of Congress should be furious - and ought to launch their own investigation of the outrage and how to stop it from occurring again.
