I would like to state that I am somewhat disappointed and a bit concerned by what I would consider to be the paucity of reportage and professional curiousity by local media regarding recent events and circumstances regarding the resignation of the director of the Belmont County Department of Job and Family Services, the process of the hiring of his replacement, as well as the planned creation of a Belmont County Senior Services Department, following its separation from the county's Department of Job and Family Services, by the Belmont County Board of Commissioners.
Although it is my belief that local media essentially has done quite well in confronting and pursuing answers to controversial key local issues, however in this particular instance it may have "dropped the ball."
In contrast, I feel a somewhat comparable situation has been covered quite well. That being the recent resignation of the city of Steubenville's city manager, along with the corresponding events leading to the eventual hiring of her replacement, has been covered, keeping the public well-informed on that critical situation.
However, in comparison it appears that the aforementioned Belmont County issues and their realized and perceived ancillary impact, in terms of cause and effect, have been largely ignored by local media.
I am not sure as to why such is the case, but hopefully, in the near future these areas of concern may be addressed as well.
