Dr. Robert Altmeyer Joins Staff at Wheeling Hospital

WHEELING - Wheeling pulmonologist Dr. Robert Altmeyer, has joined the Physician Practice Division at Wheeling Hospital.

Altmeyer, who had been an independent physician, specializes in pulmonary diseases and internal medicine. He will maintain his practice at 1131 National Road.

A graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and West Virginia University School of Medicine, Altmeyer has been practicing in the Wheeling area since 1981. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine; certified with a Subspecialty in Pulmonary Medicine; and is a Diplomate in the American Board of Internal Medicine, the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Diseases.

Altmeyer is a member of the West Virginia State Medical Society and the Ohio County Medical Society.

Altmeyer has helped train medical students by serving as clinical assistant professor and associate adjunct professor at WVU School of Medicine; clinical associate professor at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine; adjunct clinical associate professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine; preceptor for respiratory therapy students at Wheeling Jesuit University and West Virginia Northern Community College; preceptor in pulmonary medicine at Wheeling Hospital's Family Practice Residency; preceptor in the physician assistant program at Alderson Broaddus College; and lecturer for the physician assistant master's degree program at West Liberty University.

Altmeyer's research into pulmonary diseases has been printed in several publications.
