George Kachalo

KACHALO, George A. "Possu," 93, of Fostoria Ave., Moundsville, died Thursday, December 5, 2013, in Liza's Place.

He was born March 29, 1920, in Moundsville, the son of the late Charles and Anna Kachalo.

He was a retired coal miner of 40 years from Valley Camp Alexander Mine; Catholic by faith; a veteran of the U.S. Air Force; member of the American Legion, Earl Francis Post 3; Eagles 499; refinished antique furniture; loved to golf, fish, and especially play cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Nathan Schweitzer; a brother, Lawrence Kachalo; two sisters, Anna Waddell and Elizabeth Suchanich.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Kachalo; a daughter, Toni Ann DiNatale Schweitzer of Moundsville; a grandson, John (Chrissy) DiNatale of Hanover, PA; a granddaughter, Dominique (Jackie) Groz of Grasonville, MD; sister, Margaret Commo of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Charles (Susie) Kachalo of Ellicott City, MD; six great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Jordon DiNatale, Sarah and Cole Johnson, Sheila and Max Groz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bob (Rosalie) Gillespie of Benwood, Geraldine Roth of Moundsville, Mary Ann Dempsey, Jerry (Connie) Gillispie all of Hickory, NC; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rosary Hall, St. John's Catholic Church, 622 Main St., Benwood, WV 26031.
