The 2014 Grecian Festival continues today and tomorrow at the Hellenic Center, 2215 Chapline St., Wheeling.
The parishioners of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church are hosting the event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Since 2000, the community of St. John the Divine has hosted a multi-day Grecian Food Festival. Each year, the committee tries to provide something new for their faithful patrons and this year is no exception.
The event includes:
Agora (Greek Market Place): Explore the gift shop featuring imported Greek items.
Indoor Gourmet Food: Roasted chicken, lamb, fish, pastisio, mousaka, grapeleaves and more.
Outdoor Tavern & Grille: The atmosphere is perfect for gyro, chicken wings, tavern fries, calamari, refreshments, draft beer and more.
Youth Tent: Enjoy a baklava sundae or golden honey-dipped loukoumades, and fresh-made lemonade.
Divine Pastries: Greek delicacies such as baklava, galatobouriko, sweet bread, koulourakia and more.
Greek Wine: Enjoy a variety of imported Greek wines.
Music Tent: Listen and dance to the sounds of authentic live Greek and contemporary music from 6-10 p.m. Sophia Kayafas will perform each night. D.J. Arion will perform contemporary Greek and American music from 5:30-9 p.m. today.
Sanctuary Church Tours: Take a self-guided tour of the sanctuary during the festival hours.
