Hilltoppers’
Deri is MEC
Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Liberty University senior safety Logan Deri has been honored as the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Hilltoppers to a 47-6 blowout of Concord Saturday afternoon at West Family Stadium.
A four-year starter and team captain from North Huntingdon, Pa., Deri added yet another chapter to his impressive senior campaign in the Homecoming rout.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder led the team with 10 tackles — including eight solo stops — while also forcing a fumble with a highlight-reel hit, blocking a punt and picking up a tackle-for-loss in a stat sheet-stuffing performance. The 10 tackles marked Deri’s fourth double-figure tackle game in six starts this season as he continues to close in on the 300-tackle career milestone.
Deri and his West Liberty teammates step out of MEC play this weekend with a short trip to Canton, Ohio to take on Walsh University out of the G-MAC. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the 23,000-seat Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
