Magnolia Eliminated From Sectional Tourney
RITCHIE COUNTY — Magnolia dropped a pair of matches to Paden City and Ritchie County as the defending West Virginia Class A state champion was eliminated from the Region One, Section One tournament Tuesday night at West Virginia High School.
After taking the first two sets, the Wildcats rallied to stun the Blue Eagles in the winners bracket 13-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-11, 15-8.
Kyndra Pilant compiled three points, three aces, 17 digs, 38 kills and five blocks for the Blue Eagles while Lenieca Grimm tallied eight points, three aces and 51 assists.
Magnolia fell to the losers’ bracket and was swept by Ritchie County, 25-15, 25-19, 25-20.
Zoey Jenkins had 12 points and six digs.

RICHIE COUNTY — Ritchie County also bounced back against Tyler Consolidated.
For the Silver Knights, Regan Smith compiled eight kills, seven blocks, eight digs, 15 points, three aces and 12 assists.
Caleigh Phillips also had eight kills, five blocks, 12 digs, six points and 15 assists for the Silver Knigths.
Ritchie County will square off against Paden City for the sectional championship tonight, at 6 p.m.
Heartbreaking Loss for Lady Hilltopper
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — One point away from their sixth straight victory Tuesday night, the West Liberty University volleyball team saw Notre Dame bounce back from a 2-0 deficit to pull out a 3-2 win in Mountain East Conference action at Mueller Gym.
Senior Olivia Baumhoer hammered down a season-high 19 kills while hitting a robust .382 from the floor while Maddie Clayton stuffed the stat sheet with 16 kills, four aces and four blocks.
