PREP ROUNDUP: Shannon, Satterfield Lead Valley in Opener

PINE GROVE –Tommy Shannon scored 18 points with 15 rebounds, while teammate Abe Satterfield also notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as Valley beat rival Paden City in a mutual opener.

The Lumberjacks’ Levi Anderson led all scorers with 19 points.

Joel Moore paced the Wildcats with 17 points, while Ty Cain netted 11.

Cameron 73, Hundred 72

HUNDRED — Cameron led by as many as 17, but had to hang as a last-second shot fell short to survive the opener against Hundred.

Jessop Broughton scored 24 to pace the Dragons, while Noah Neely scored 17 and Zane Clutter added 13.

Logan Norris led the Hornets with 27 points, while Cody Soles recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Linsly 79, Monroe Central 60

WOODSFIELD –Marshall Taylor netted 20 points to lead Linsly to a road victory against Monroe Central.

Trevin Tush added 19 points for the Cadets, while Caleb Murray scored 13 and Hunter Kelley poured in 11.

Talin Babcock paced the Seminoles with 21 points. Auston Hogue added 11.

St. Clairsville 79, Union Local 66

MORRISTOWN — Four St. Clairsville players scored in double figures as it defeated Union Local. Nate Harris led the way with 23 points while Brett Vike netted a solid 19. Will Balgo supplied 14 for the Red Devils and Avery Henry tallied 10.

For the Jets, Luke Merritt had a game-high 27 points and Andrew Martin added 17.

Martins Ferry 48

CADIZ — Kobe Mitchell turned in a game-high 40 points as Harrison Central took down Martins Ferry.

Logan Smith led the way for the Purple Riders with 17 points.

Toronto 58, Wellsville 56, OT

TORONTO –Toronto trailed by 22 with just seconds remaining in the first half against Wellsville, but the Red Knights stormed back late in the game before holding on for an improbable victory in overtime.

A.J. Clegg paced the Red Knights with 17 points while Brendan Matyas had 11. Bryson Anderson netted 10 points.

For the Tigers, Luke Green scored 25 of his game-high 30 points in the first half while Justin Wright tallied 13.

Edison 50, Indian Creek 47, OT

RICHMOND — Alec McBane scored 15 points while Andrew Pugh netted 14 as Edison downed Indian Creek.

Logan Kuczykowski led the way for the Redskins with 19 points while Isaiah Vandine had 17.

GIRLS

Cameron 61, St. John Academy 11

CAMERON — Cameron jumped out a 24-1 lead after one and never looked back in a rout of St. John Academy.

Kori Scott paced the Dragons (2-0) with 23.

University 56, John Marshall 31

MORGANTOWN — University scored 18 points in the first quarter en route to a victory over John Marshall.

Catherine Hunnell scored eight points to pace the Monarchs.

WELLSBURG — The Brooke boys and girls teams swept a tri-meet against Weir and East Liverpool. Paige DiGiovanni (100 butterfly, 1:23.06) and Veronica Mann (500, 5:52.77) paced the Brooke girls team with victories in their respective events. Weir’s Claire Stewart won two individual titles in the 200 freestyle (2:25.20) and 100 freestyle (1:02.83).

On the boys side, Ethan Robey won the 500 freestyle for the Bruins (5:20.39). He was also on the winning 200 medlay relay team with Brandyn Rouse, John Francis and Jacob Donley.

Weir’s Boston Beatty also won two events in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.23) and 50 freestyle (24.42).
