Wheeling Park Cheerleading Wins State Title for Second Year in a Row

The Wheeling Park cheerleading team claimed its second consecutive West Virginia Class AAA state championship on Saturday. The Patriots have been a force in the state as they have claimed five of the last six.

“The pressure to win is high, to defend your title is even higher,” Wheeling Park coach Shawna Shepherd said. “We put a ton of pressure on these kids and they handle themselves well always.”

The Patriots next competition will be OVAC where they will go for their eighth straight title and 23rd overall.
