OUE Women Storm Back for 56-54 Victory

The Ohio University Eastern Lady Panthers advanced to the semi-finals of the Ohio Regional Campus State Tournament with a come from behind 56-54 victory over Akron Wayne.

Buckeye Local’s Becky Zerloski calmly netted two foul shots with 3 seconds remaining to seal the victory for OUE.

Zerloski finished with 14 points in support of Bellaire St. John alumna Kaylin Nixon, who paced the way with 20 points and six rebounds.

St. Clairsville graduate Maria Vincenzo and Buckeye Local product Alaire Destifanes finished with 11 points each.

The OUE win avenges two earlier losses versus Akron Wayne.

The Warriors were paced by Amanda Echlinger with 22 points.

The Panthers will now play top seeded Miami Hamilton on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. in Middletown.

Rally but Come Up Short

The Ohio University Eastern Panthers came from nine points down in the final three minutes but came up short in a 86-85 loss to Akron Wayne in the Ohio Regional Campus State Tournament.

The Panthers were paced by All-Conference guard Jay Farrow’s 36 points. Austin Coleman chipped in with 17 points and six rebounds.

Cambridge alum Connor Leppla added 11 points and seven boards. Monroe Central’s Zac Jones collared a game high 12 rebounds.
