Wheeling U. Football Schedule Released

BRIDGEPORT — Wheeling University will play five home games and six road contests in its second season of varsity competition. The Cardinals will open the 2020 campaign on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m. with a non-conference road game in Greensburg, Pennsylvania against Seton Hill.

Wheeling will play its home-opener on Saturday, September 12 at 2 p.m. when it welcomes defending MEC Champion Notre Dame (Ohio) to Bishop Schmitt Field. Other notable dates include hosting the MEC’s Thursday Night Football Game on September 24 against Glenville State, and the Homecoming Football Game on October 10 against UNC-Pembroke at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals will close the season with a trip to West Liberty on Saturday, November 14. A kick-off time has not yet been set.

Wheeling and Head Coach Zac Bruney are set to return the vast majority of its starters on both sides of the ball, including All-MEC standouts Ryan LaFollette (Woodsfield, Ohio/Monroe Central), defensive end Brandon Munoz (Halethorpe, Md./Mount Saint Joseph), and linebacker James Reese III (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley).
