Linsly’s Behm to Swim at Allegheny
WHEELING –Alex Behm enjoyed stellar swimming and academic careers at Linsly School. She now hopes to do the same at Allegheny College.
Behm was a four-year OVAC qualifier for Hall of Fame Coach Bill Brubaker. This year in the OVAC meet, she placed sixth in the 200 I.M., eighth in the 500 freestyle, second in the 200 freestyle relay and fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.
“Alex has played a big part in the success of the Linsly women’s swim team over the past four years,” Brubaker said. “She finished runner-up in OVAC small school all four years. Also, she helped us captured the Interstate Preparatory School League championships the last two years while placing runnerup in 2017.
“Alex is an extremely hard worker, usually the first one in the water at practice. She stays afterward to work on technique and mechanics. Alex also applies herself in the classroom as evidenced by her All-American achievement.”
Behm was selected National Interscholastic Swimming Coach’s Association – Academic All -American for 2019-2020. She was also the Cadets’ captain this past season.
Behm is a three-year Eastern qualifier. She placed this year in the 100 butterfly (51), 500 freestyle (31), 200 freestyle relay (18) and 400 freestyle relay (18).
“Alex is a good student in the pool as well. She is very coachable and takes all suggestions to improve to heart and applies them in practice,” Brubaker said. “The program will miss Alex not only for her performance in meets, but her quiet leadership in the pool during practice. I look for Alex to flourish at Allegheny both in the classroom and in the pool.”
Allegheny is located in Meadville, Pa. The Gators are members of the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Alex is the daughter of Jim and Shelly Behm and resides in Glen Dale. She plans on majoring in pre-med.
