Zervos Nets 11 Goals in John Marshall Victory

SISTERSVILLE — Zara Zervos couldn’t be contained, slowed or stopped on Thursday night as she recorded 11 goals in a monster 12-0 victory for John Marshall over Tyler Consolidated.

Williamstown 4, Linsly 1

WILLIAMSTOWN — Despite the setback to Williamstown, Payton Storch found the back of the net on an assist from Riley Maroney to pace the Cadets.

Steubenville Catholic 4, Madonna 1

STEUBENVILLE — The Crusaders scored a goal about two minutes into the match, and they controlled the game from that point on, en route to a victory against Madonna to knock the Blue Dons from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Maria Meyer recorded two goals to lead the way for the Crusaders, while Becca Bolster and Ellen Rhode each collected a goal. Bella Zinno chipped in with an assist. Bre DeChristopher made eight saves.

Angelina Spicakrd produced the lone goal for the Blue Dons off of an assist by Isabella Pulice.

BOYS

St. Clairsville 6, Harrison Central 0

CADIZ — St. Clairsville remained unbeaten in boys’ high school soccer action. And did so impressively.

Nate Thornburg found the net twice and assisted on a third goal as the Red Devils (5-0-2) blanked homestanding Harrison Central on the artificial surface at Wagner Field.

Caden Stout also tallied a pair of goals while Jesse Brannan also scored. The Huskies (1-7) were guilty of an own-goal when an attempted clearing shot deflected off one of their players and into the net. Sean O’Grady and Anthony Vcelka logged assists. Goalkeeper Shane Jackson was only called upon to make two saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Barnesville d. Bridgeport 25-8, 25-4, 25-17

BRIDGEPORT — Barnesville made quick work of Bridgeport.

Ava McFarland paced the Shamrocks with 18 points and 13 assists, while Rylee Stephens delivered 13 points, six kills, five aces and five digs, Keirston Adams accounted for 12 points, five aces and five assists and Halle Markovich added 10 kills.

The Bulldogs were led by Brooke Stewart’s two aces, five points and four digs. Hannah Graham had two kills and two digs.

Shadyside d. Wheeling Central 25-4, 25-18, 25-11

SHADYSIDE — Tory Hendershot paced Shadyside with nine kills and six aces in a sweep of Wheeling Central.

Gentry Brown supplied 11 kills and five digs in the win, while Baylee Wach added eight aces and four kills.

St. Clairsville d. Martins Ferry 25-9, 25-11, 25-15

MARTINS FERRY — In a sweep of Martins Ferry, Chloe Biancarelli turned in 11 kills, 10 assists and six digs to lead the Red Devils.

Alexis Thoburn accumulated 12 kills and seven digs, Lydia Wees recorded eight kills and Shae Brookover added 18 assists and five aces.

Indian Creek d. Buckeye Local 25-7, 25-10, 25-7

WINTERSVILLE — Alexa Williams turned in five points and four kills, while Kassidy George added nine digs but Buckeye Local fell to Indian Creek.

GOLF

St.C. Finishes third in quad

CAMBRIDGE — St Clairsville finished third in a quad golf tournament.

The Red Devils finished with a 209 in a field that also included Meadowbrook, Maysville and Edison.

Saul Crist led the Devils with a 45.
