Linsly Girls Stay Perfect with 11-0 Record

NEW CUMBERLAND — Carleigh Grimm netted 16 points, Molly Heron tallied 15 and Brinley Steen dropped in 14 as the Cadets moved to 11-0 on the season with a 56-45 victory over Oak Glen on Thursday.

Reece Enochs paced the Bears with 18 points.

Parkersburg South 57

John Marshall 50

MOUNDSVILLE — Catherine Hunnell bucketed 15 points and Landyn Helms turned in 12 points but John Marshall fell to Parkersburg South.

BOYS

Madonna 69, Paden City 45

PADEN CITY — Lucky Pulice provided 16 points and Santino Arlia drained four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points as Madonna upended Paden City.

Anthony Mascio garnered 11 points in the win and Matt Amaismeier added 10.

Ty Cain paced the Wildcats with 15 points.

Brooke 69, John Marshall 54

MOUNDSVILLE — Alex Isinghood tallied 26 points while Cole Sperlazza netted 22 as Brooke defeated John Marshall.

Ryan Knox tallied 14 points for the Bruins.

For the Monarchs, Derrick Derrow had a team-high 24 points while Braden Sobutka had 13.

BASEBALL

St. Clairsville 13

Union Local 3

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils completed the season sweep of Union Local, posting a victory in five innings.

Junior Drew Sefsick pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts en route to the win. He also had a RBI triple.

Senior Will Balgo hit a three-run home run. Classmate Tyler Tonkovich had two singles, a triple and a RBI. Luke Jozwiak had a single, double and two RBI. Frosh Mason Myers had a RBI single.

Union Local received a RBI single from Tre Rex and a RBI double by Ayden Smolira, while frosh Jake Toohey had a triple.

The Red Devils are now 5-2 and will host Cambridge today.

Martins Ferry 3, Bellaire 2

MARTINS FERRY — Colin Snedeker plated the walk-off single in the eighth inning as Martins Ferry edged rival Bellaire.

Chase Goff supplied two doubles and a RBI in the win.

Jake Heatherington of Bellaire and Logan Smith of Ferry turned in a pitcher’s duel.

Heatherington fanned six with one walk in seven innings, while also knocking in a run. Smith also tossed seven innings with eight punch outs and three free passes.

Both pitchers received no decisions.

Shadyside 10

Steubenville Catholic 0

SHADYSIDE — Korey Beckett pitched five innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits and striking out eight in the process as Shadyside quieted Steubenville Catholic.

Jordan Joseph led the Tigers’ offense with a pair of hits and three RBI, while Alex Baker turned in two hits and two RBI.

SOFTBALL

Monroe Central 10 Shadyside 5

WOODSFIELD — Brookelynn Grubb recorded two singles and a double that produced a trio of runs, while Regan Hamilton slugged a towering three-run homer that highlighted a five-run sixth as Monroe Central doubled up Shadyside.

River 18, Bridgeport 1

BRIDGEPORT — Katie Rufener garnered three hits and drove in a run and Josie Reed delivered three hits as River walloped Bridgeport.

Lyndsey Huffman tripled in two runs and Rylee Knight tripled in one run for the Pilots.
