Central’s Justin Doerr Rolls to Medalist Honors

WHEELING — Wheeling Central standout Justin Doerr fired a score of 73 at Oglebay’s Jones Course on Thursday to earn match medalist honors.

However, it was St. Clairsville taking the team win with a score of 339 against Central’s 350.

Saul Christ paced the Red Devils with an 83.

Central’s Ryan Costanzo shot an 87.

Barnesville wins triangular

RAYLAND — The Shamrocks treked to BecWood Hills Golf Course and posted a 164, which was 25 better than Union Local and 30 fewer than Ferry.

The Rocks were led by co-medalists Carter Wells and Dryden Bauman. Each signed for a round of 39.

John Glenn Girls Down JM, Monroe

WHEELING — JM was sparked by Payten Clark’s 49, followed by Amelia Kaste with a 50 and Sydney Coss and Megan Huff, who both tallied scores of 52.



Wheeling Park 5, University 1

MORGANTOWN — Tresz McLeod netted a pair of goals as Wheeling Park upended University.

Alex Canestraro, Mike Blanton and Brody Wall also found the back of the net for the Patriots.

St. Clairsville 2, Morgantown 0

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Nate Thornburg and Jesse Brannan each scored as St. Clairsville shut out Morgantown.


Park Improves to 2-0

WEIRTON — Oliva Albrecht delivered 17 kills and Makara Ferguson tallied 15 kills as Wheeling Park defeated Weir 25-13, 22-25, 25-21 and 26-24.

Ella Schellhase amassed 39 assists in the win.

Union Local tops St. Clairsville

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Behind 17 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and five assists from Torre Kildow, Union Local swept host St. Clairsville by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-19.

Barnesville downs Beallsville

BEALLSVILLE — The invading Shamrocks took down the Blue Devils by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18.

Cambridge downs Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — The invading Bobcats defeated the Purple Riders in three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15.

Monroe Central sweeps River

HANNIBAL — The Seminoles won their fourth match in as many nights, posting a 25-15, 25-20 and 25-10 sweep of the Pilots.

Harrison Central trips Edison

RICHMOND — The kies needed four sets, but picked up a win against Edison Thursday evening by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-16.


West Liberty 3, Mercyhurst 1

ERIE, PA — The West Liberty men grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first half and never looked back in stunning Mercyhurst.

Mikel Ubeda, Vitor Otsuka and Adam Lynch all found the back of the net for the Toppers in the win.

Painesville, OH — The Wheeling University Women’s Soccer team (1-0) showed off their offensive prowess as they defeated Lake Erie College in their season opener.
