DeGarmo, JM Roll at Speidel

WHEELING — Travis DeGarmo shot a 41 to earn match medalist and lead John Marshall (181) to victory over Indian Creek (199) and Weir (NS) on Monday at the Speidel Golf Course.

Ethan Cook and Ty Cox each carded a 47 for the Monarchs and Mason Orndorff added a 48.

Creek was led by Noah Tweedy’s 44 and Weir was led by Jude Smith’s 45.

Barnesville sweeps event

BEALLSVILLE — Host Barnesville fired a 162 to defeat Monroe Central (191) and Union Local (197) on Monday at Switzerland.

The Shamrocks were led by senior Carter Wells, who posted a round of 39. He was three shots behind match medalist Zander Potts, who posted a 1-over, 36.

Wheeling Central upends

Barnesville

BARNESVILLE — The invading Maroon Knights overcame a rough third set to post a victory in western Belmont County Monday evening.

The Knights prevailed by scores of 27-25, 25-21, 13-25 and 25-15.

The Shamrocks were led by Ava McFarland’s 12 points, eight digs, 23 assists and three kills.

Halle Markovich had 11 points, six blocks, 13 kills and six digs. Jalyn Skinner posted five points and 12 digs. Kynlie Cline added 15 digs and two assists. Blayne Carpenter posted 11 digs and Marly Keiser had four points and five kills.

Union Local Sweeps Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE — Union Local put itself in the driver’s seat in the Buckeye 8 South by sweeping homesteading Cambridge Monday evening inside the Gene Ford Gymnasium.

The Jets won by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-16.

Fueling the Jets was the play of talented junior Torre Kildow, who posted 24 kills. She also had 16 digs, four blocks and two aces.

Supporting Kildow’s production was Keira Gregor, who had six kills and seven digs. Julie Broussard had 28 digs. Kelly Gress had 25 assists and eight digs. Baylee Rex had 11 digs and three kills.

Shadyside drubs

Buckeye Local

SHADYSIDE — The homesteading Tigers swept the Panthers, who were coming off a COVID pause by scores of 25-4, 25-8 and 25-12.

The Tigers were led by junior Gentry Brown, who had 12 kills, three aces and six digs. Paige Gorby had six kills and six digs. Caroline Mercer handed out 20 assists, five aces and posted three digs. Bayleigh Harman had eight aces and five digs.

Harrison Central trips

Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — Harrison Central needed four sets, but pulled out the victory inside the Tolbert Gymnasium Monday evening.

The Huskies prevailed by scores of 23-25, 25-15, 27-25 and 25-15.

Leading the way for Harrison Central was senior McKayla Dunkle, who had 21 kills, seven blocks, 23 points and 15 aces.

Maddy Butler had 25 digs and Logan Johnson had 27 assists.

The Purple Riders were led by Syndey Koller’s nine kills. Hannah Meeker had six kills and a block, while Lindsay Best posted five kills. Megan Buksa had 12 points, two aces and nine assists, while Jordan Hughes had four kills and two aces.
