Brooke Grad Ryan Bilby Leads Marshall With 71

KETTERING, OH — The Marshall men’s golf team completed the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Tuesday, played at the NCR Country Club. It was the Herd’s final event of the fall 2021 season.

The Thundering Herd finished in seventh place. Freshman Ryan Bilby of Brooke led the team, finishing tied for 13th overall.

“We really had a good fall, and I was hoping that we would finish it off well,” Herd coach Matt Grobe said. “But we just didn’t have our best this week. I still saw a lot of good stuff this week, but we didn’t play our best.

“Ryan (Bilby) finished off a really good fall with his play this week. Tyler (Jones) and Noah (Mullens) continued to lead the team on and off the golf course. I think the winter break will be really good for us and I am already looking forward to Georgia and Phoenix in February. These guys are so fun to coach!”

Bilby played a great round on Tuesday, improving his score by three strokes, and scoring an even par-71.

He finished the day with three total birdies and shot par or better on 16 of the 18 in the third round.

Bilby ends the tournament scoring par or better on 43 of 54 total holes including seven birdies.
