BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — After leading the West Liberty University women’s basketball team to back-to-back wins, senior point guard Audrey Tingle has been honored as the Mountain East Conference’s Player of the Week.

A 5-6 graduate student from West Lafayette, Ohio now in her fifth season as WLU’s starting point guard, Tingle was at her stat sheet-stuffing best as coach Kyle Cooper’s Hilltoppers followed up Wednesday’s 66-58 road win at Frostburg State with a 92-76 thumping of second-place Fairmont State Saturday afternoon inside the ASRC.

Tingle tossed in 22 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 6 assists on Saturday as the Black and Gold jetted out to an early double-digit lead and never looked back in handing Fairmont State only its second conference loss of the season.

For the week, Tingle shot better than 61 percent (11-of-18) from the floor while averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in the two West Liberty wins.

Having recently blown past the 1,000-point career milestone, Tingle currently leads the nation with 99 assists and ranks No. 6 nationally with 171 rebounds. Saturday’s double-double was her 11th of the season, which ranks No. 2 among all NCAA Division II women.

The West Liberty women will try to build on their momentum Wednesday night when they head to Alderson Broaddus for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against the Battlers at historic Rex Pyles Arena.
