Magnolia Tops Dons
NEW MARTINSVILLE — Oliva Stine tossed a gem in the circle as Magnolia won 8-2 over visiting Madonna in sectional play Wednesday.
Cross racked up nine strikeouts without issuing a single free pass and scattered five hits across seven innings of work.
Offensively, nine different players recorded a hit for the hosts as Magnolia exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh inning. The big hit in the frame included a double by Emma Steele, while five other players collected singles.

WEIRTON — Weir came out swinging against Fairmont Senior, and the Polar Bears did not put forth much of a defense as the Red Riders recorded a 15-2 victory in five innings in a West Virginia Class AA Region 1 Section 1 game.

MOGANTOWN — The Patriots tied the game in the top of the seventh just to watch the Mohigans win on a walk-off single in the bottom of the inning in a Class 3A sectional.
Shelby Crow led Park’s offense with a single, double and four runs batted in. Makiyah Strothers, Makenna Kelly and Hayley Thompson all also contributed an RBI as part of Park’s 10-hit attack.
Emily Goldcamp had a triple, double and two RBI for the victors.

CADIZ – Two championships in a five-day span!
That’s what the Martins Ferry softball team accomplished on a blustery Wednesday as it used one big inning at the plate and solid pitching from its No. 2 and No. 3 hurlers in defeating homestanding Harrison Central, 8-5, for the Buckeye 8 championship.

Harrison Central 8 Wheeling Park 7
CADIZ – Cabot Arbaugh singled in Kaden Jurosko in the bottom of the ninth as Harrison Central stunned visiting Wheeling Park, 8-7, on Mazeroski Field inside Sally Buffalo Park on Wednesday in high school baseball action.
The Huskies trailed 2-0 after one inning and 6-1 at the end of four. The Patriots made it 7-1 in the top of the fifth, but the hosts answered with one in the bottom before adding four in the sixth to draw even.
Neither team scored in the seventh or the eighth, setting the stage for Arbaugh’s dramatics.
Jace Madzia singled, doubled and drove in two runs to lead the Huskies’ 12-hit attack. Jonathan Vermillion also singled and doubled. Arbaugh, Jurosko and Caleb Blawut all had two singles, with Jurosko collecting a pair of runs batted in and Blawut one. Treston Nemeth also singled twice.
Linsly 7, Morgantown 5
WHEELING — The Cadets scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull off a come-from-behind win over their visitors.
Linsly trailed 5-2 after the Mohigans added two runs onto their lead in the top of the sixth, but plated four in the bottom of the frame to steal the win.
Adam Och led Linsly’s offense with a double and three RBI while Jack Scouvart and Trey Prather both also drove in a run.
Brody Selmon started on the mound and fanned nine opponents in 5 1/3 innings of work. Och came on in the sixth and tossed 1 2/3 shutout innings to close the game.

SHADYSIDE – The Tigers scratched across three runs in their final two at bats to rally past invading Madonna on Wednesday.
Alex Baker picked up the mound win, working the distance with four strikeouts and two walks.
