Park Golf Opens 2022 Season

WHEELING — Wheeling Park opened up the 2022 golf season Thursday at the perfectly manicured Jones Golf Course at Oglebay Park. Park played host to the Ohio Division 1 runner-up Akron Hoban squad. Hoban’s A team shot a team score of 307, Hobans B team shot 340, Wheeling Park shot a team score of 329.

Park was lead by senior Gavin Goodrich 76, freshman Andrew Pennybacker 79, junior Ryan Linder 83, senior Noah Milhoan 91 and junior Nick Trischler 95

Hoban was led by match medalist Jake Ryan 74, Branden Herstich 76, Ray Dress 77, Ethan Cooper 80, Kord Ready 84, David Deibel 85, Brett Bagatti 85, Anthony Gore 86, and Kevin Elliott 96.

Red Devils Win Opener

MOUNDSVILLE — St. Clairsville opened its season impressively, posting a 156. The Red Devils were 22 shots clear of their nearest competitor, Union Local.

Other teams in the field at the Moundsville Country Club were Barnesville (184), Shadyside (192), River (223) and Magnolia (228).

St. Clairsville freshman Olivia Baker was the match medalist. She signed for a 1-over par round of 37. Sophomores Andrew Abel and Brodi Foster finished second and third, respectively, with rounds of 38 and 39.

Buckeye Local tops Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE — The Panthers opened their season with an eight-shot win over host Big Red at Steubenville Country Club.

Buckeye Local was led by Aiden Polanski, who was the match medalist with a round of 41. Kamden Kinyo was the runner-up medalist with a 43.
